He sounds like my granddaughter. And the phone. They don’t do anything anyway now that they have an iphone. It is so sad how active and curious she was until that phone entered her life. I disagree with your observation, young man. I worked a full time job, two part time jobs, raised two kids without any child support, played on a softball team, watched my Ohio State grateful dead shirt play on their teams, attended their debate matches, plays, went to church, drove the van on Sun morn to pick up those who needed a ride, my kids helped by walking with the old people, and so much more.

I am now almost 75 and still so excited to be retired. It feels good to have worked hard ,loved raising the sweet kids, and now I love doing nothing, but yard work and what ever I want. Life is what you make it. Find what you love by trying out different things. Good luck. Perk up.

Life as an adult is exactly what you make it. What you do is totally up to you. As a 30+ year old I know many adults who live like you say but I have chosen to do otherwise. I multiple groups of friends and we do something most Ohio State grateful dead Christmas t-shirt and several times after work during the week. Dinners, drinks, dancing, hiking, museums, trips down the coast.

Sure some adults do that but that’s not necessarily everyone’s experience. I hope he learns he can get a job he’s passionate about, he doesn’t have to work himself to the bone to live in a city he’s not enjoying, he could even gasp live with his friends so he sees them all the time. Living outside normal societal norms is a choice, I made it and I’m so happy.
