I started at 13, left home at 16, got clean at 25, 16 years clean and sober now and I have a fantastic relationship with most of my family again. And my life is amazing, it really is. One day at a time, one hour at a time sometimes. Go and enjoy getting to know them, and them you again. And remember if there are moments of tension or stress – “this too shall pass.
I can guarantee you that it will be what you make of it. I spend thanksgiving without my father now, as he died on Christmas Day a few years ago.
